Privacy Policy

Who we are
WaterReady (waterready.co.uk) is operated by Focus Aura LTD. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@waterready.co.uk.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the WaterReady water calculator, including the optional "Email me this please" feature, and when you buy from our shop. It doesn't cover third-party sites you reach by clicking an affiliate or product link — once you leave WaterReady, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Using the calculator
The calculator itself — entering your household size, number of days, and how much water you already have — runs entirely in your browser. None of those answers are sent to us, stored by us, or seen by us unless you choose to use the "Email me this please" feature described below, or buy the Water Plan, in which case they are sent to Stripe with your order (see "Who we share your data with").
If you use "Email me this please"
If you enter your email address and click "Email me this please", we collect and send the following in order to send you that one email:
- Your email address
- Your calculator answers and the personalised results generated from them (so they can be included in the email itself)
- Whether you ticked the box to also receive occasional stock-up reminders and tips (see "Marketing consent" below)
You need to give us an email address to receive the results email. Your name is optional.
This information is sent from your browser to a small server-side function we run on our hosting provider, Netlify, which passes your email address and the email content to our email-delivery provider, Resend, so it can actually send the email to you. If you did not tick the stock-up reminders box, that's the end of it — we do not store your email address, your answers, or the results anywhere of our own, and nothing persists on our side beyond that one send.
Marketing consent
If you tick the "Also send me stock-up reminders, occasional tips and water-relevant product recommendations" box, we add you to our "Water Calculator Signups" list in Klaviyo, the email platform we use to send those reminders, tips and recommendations. Nothing is saved in a database of our own, and Resend does not keep a contact list for us. Klaviyo holds your email address, your first name if you gave one, the water company and season you chose, the start date of your seasonal emails, and which page you signed up from, so reminders arrive at the right time and mention the right supplier.
If you buy something from our shop, there is a separate, optional box to tick for the same reminders and tips. It is unticked by default and buying does not depend on it. If you tick it, we add your email address and first name to the same Klaviyo list. If you don't tick the box, we don't add you to Klaviyo and your purchase is not recorded there.
If you opt in, this is what we send: a welcome series of 5 emails over about 11 days after you sign up; one series of 9 seasonal water-check emails, one every 14 days, starting a month before the season you chose (or the next season, if you didn't choose one), which repeats each year while you stay subscribed; and, if you buy something, one email 2 days after your order suggesting the Emergency Binder (not sent if your order included it). Every marketing email we send this way includes an automatic unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us directly (see "Your rights" below) to remove you at any time. If you don't tick the box, none of this happens — you only receive the one email you asked for.
Why we use your data
- Sending you the results email you ask for: it is part of the service you asked for, so we rely on our legitimate interests in providing it.
- Stock-up reminders, tips and product recommendations: your consent, which you give by ticking the box and can withdraw at any time.
- Taking and fulfilling shop orders and sending order emails: so we can deliver what you bought (contract).
- Keeping order and payment records: a legal obligation, for company accounts and tax.
Who we share your data with
We use these third-party services to run this site. Resend, Netlify and Klaviyo act as our processors, handling data on our instructions. Stripe processes payment data on our behalf and is also an independent controller for its own purposes, such as fraud prevention and meeting legal obligations.
- Resend (Resend, Inc., San Francisco, US) — sends the results email and order emails on our behalf, and holds a copy of each email it sends (including your address and its content) under its own retention practices. See Resend's privacy policy.
- Netlify (Netlify, Inc., San Francisco, US) — hosts this site and the small server-side functions that send your emails and handle shop orders, and keeps the logs those functions write. Our log lines are written to leave out your email address and the email content: they record whether each step worked, the error code if a provider rejected a request, and, for shop orders, the order reference. See Netlify's privacy policy.
- Klaviyo (Klaviyo, Inc.) — holds the marketing list described under "Marketing consent" above, sends the reminder and tips emails, and, for people who ticked the box, records purchases. See Klaviyo's privacy policy.
- Stripe — takes payment when you buy from our shop. It receives your name, email address, country and payment details, and keeps a record of the order. If you buy the Water Plan, your calculator answers (household size, pets and extra water needs, number of days, water already stored, the water targets worked out from these, town, water company, season, and the name you entered, if any) are sent with the order so your plan can be built after payment. Other shop orders include only the season you chose in the calculator, if any. See Stripe's privacy policy.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.
International transfers
Resend, Netlify, Klaviyo and Stripe are US-based or process data in the US. Each says it is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the UK recognises as providing adequate protection for transfers to certified US companies. If that does not apply, they use other approved safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses with the UK's transfer addendum.
Cookies and tracking
Our own pages set no cookies and use no analytics or advertising trackers. The calculator keeps a copy of your latest answers (and the name you entered, if any) in your browser so the shop can use them, in two places: one copy is deleted when you close the tab, and the other stays on your device after the browser is closed, until you clear this site's data in your browser. Neither copy is sent to us unless you start a checkout. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies. If that changes — for example if we add site analytics or advertising in future — we will update this section first to explain what's used and how you can opt out, before any such tool goes live.
Affiliate links
Some product links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third-party retailer's own site, which is outside our control and has its own privacy policy and cookies.
How long we keep your data
WaterReady does not store your email address, calculator answers, or results anywhere of our own once the single email has been sent. If you ticked the stock-up reminders box, your name, email address, water company, season, the start date of your seasonal emails, and which page you signed up from stay in Klaviyo until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you — we don't set a fixed expiry on that. Resend and Netlify also each retain their own operational records (the sent email, and function logs, respectively) under their own retention policies, linked above — we don't set or control those periods either.
We keep order and payment records for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as company accounts and tax rules require. Stripe also keeps its own records under its own policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we (or our processors, Resend, Netlify and Klaviyo) hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Object to or restrict how it's used
- Withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything already sent)
- Ask for a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format, where we collected it on the basis of your consent or a contract with you
- Complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data
To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@waterready.co.uk. For data Stripe holds for its own purposes, you can also contact Stripe directly.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If how we collect or use data changes — for example, if we start sending text messages, or add analytics or advertising — we'll update this page and change the date at the top before that change goes live.
